Anne grew up in Connecticut, where as a child she loved exploring the local woods, climbing trees, climbing mountains with family, and just generally being a wild person. She used to ride her bike to the library in town, to read about and research monsters and the occult. She hated school, where she was the target of frequent bullying.
This is when she began creating whole fantasy worlds to explore, because the real world was much too painful. She also collected hundreds of books and read voraciously, constantly building up her collection of fantasy and monstrous fuel for her crazy worlds.
Just prior to Anne's 9th grade year, the family moved to North Carolina, where she attended high school, had a new set of woods and parks to explore, and eventually began working in the public library. She wrote like a mad child throughout her school years!
The day she graduated high school, it was time to move again! They began packing up that same day, and moved to South Carolina. But Anne would only live there briefly, and soon leave for Temple Terrace, Florida, and her first stint of college.
Florida College is a small, private, religious college, where she earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. Or, because FC has a high focus on Bible Studies, she considers this first Associate's to be in Biblical Studies. Her writing continued here, and never stopped. There was no literary club at FC at the time, so she and her roommate, fellow author Kellyanne Lynch (Higgins now), started one. They called it Dead Poet's Society, or DPS, or Delta Pi Sigma, and met at the dock on the river on Tuesday nights.
After FC, she returned to Carolina, where she continued college and attempted to get a nursing degree. When Mom and Dad were tired of paying for college, Anne joined the South Carolina Army National Guard, which is where the Dromin Order developed from a religious organization to a group of military-ish commandos. The influence of her military life is most strongly noted in what became In The Shadow of Saint Dromin. As she continued nursing school, she worked at a local Urgent Care Center, the influence of which can also occasionally be seen in her writings, in some of the descriptions of injuries, illnesses, and hospitals, again primarily in Book One.
Once she had that ADN she wanted for so long, she asked to stay at the Urgent Care she'd worked at for five years, but despite having her LPN at the time, they only offered $14.50 per hour, and Anne wanted more! She said goodbye to them, and hello to the Department of Corrections. Being a nurse in a prison added a bit more dark and gritty to her writings! Almost every time a character stays in a dungeon in any of the Dromin Chronicles, Anne draws from her years of prison work!
Then she met the man of her dreams! Adam was interested in reading and writing as well. Soon enough they were working on writing together, adding to Anne's worlds and stories, creating together, and working on a home and family of their own! She had most of In The Shadow of Saint Dromin written by then, though Adam was essential in putting the finishing touches on it! They went on to write Valhalla Rising (eventually rebranded as Azgard Rising), Heimdall's Gate, and For the Glory of Tyr. They have plans for at least 2 more books in the Dromin Chronicles.
They still live in South Carolina. Anne tries to write everyday, though it is sometimes less often than that.
